Renowned for his large frame and ego to match, Luke Antico is one of the most well-known Gym Leaders in Lossulli. He seems to thrive in the limelight, flaunting his physique and feeding the flames of the fanbase he's accrued. While he's sociable, his friends and fellow Gym Leaders Keaton Engels and Delilah Arcsboro have noted that Luke hides his opinions of someone or something very well. Just because he's laughing and joking around with someone doesn't mean he actually likes them.

Background[]

Laughingluke

Luke is a native to Lualdi, as evidenced by his first name, Lucio, and has never left his home region beyond the occasional vacation. As of the start of Unstuck in Time, he has been Lossulli's Gym Leader for ten years. Those unaware of his background might be surprised to learn that Luke actually holds a doctorate in Pokémon research and worked with Professor Morgan Andromar prior to her disappearance. He has done little scientific work or research since becoming Gym Leader, but he remained on good terms with his fellows nonetheless.

His research thesis was about similarities between Pokémon and humans; this reflects in his treatment of his own Pokémon, often conversing with them as if they're people and ensuring they have good living quarters when not "on duty" as Gym Pokémon. Luke is known for submitting the most "change of team" requests of the current Pokémon League staff, thought to be because he tries to cycle out Pokémon whose interest in battling wanes or simply to keep them from feeling pressured to perform at a stressful job.

Pokémon[]

As a Gym Leader, Luke Antico primarily has Fire-type and Normal-type Pokémon. He seems to favor these Pokémon even outside of his employment with the Lualdi Pokémon League, as his very first Pokémon was an exuberant Charmander -- now a Charizard -- named Giygas. Despite his bravado and tendency to skirt the rules, Luke tends to be firmly on the side of maintaining Gym-specific types in Lualdi out of respect for their historical context.
